Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before starting: sessions, booking, online therapy, fees, confidentiality and more. If you don't find your answer, just write to us.

Getting started & first session

How do I book my first appointment?
You can book in a minute from the booking form, by calling 637 23 21 58 or messaging on WhatsApp. We reply personally as soon as possible to arrange the day and time.
What happens in the first session?
It's a calm space to meet: you tell me what brings you, we clear up any questions and look together at how therapy can help. From there we outline a process tailored to you. There's no obligation to continue.
I'm not sure what's wrong or where to start. Can I still book?
Of course. You don't need a clear reason or "a specific problem". Many people arrive with just a vague discomfort. In the first session we explore it together and give it a name.
Do I need to be "really bad" to go to therapy?
No. Therapy isn't only for crises: it also helps you understand yourself, make decisions, manage emotions or look after your wellbeing. Asking for help early usually makes the process shorter and lighter.
How can I prepare for the first session?
Nothing special is needed. If you like, you can come thinking about what you'd like to change or improve, but it's also fine to arrive with no script: we go at your pace.

Sessions & process

How long does each session last?
Individual sessions last about 50–60 minutes. Couple or family sessions may be a little longer; it's agreed beforehand.
How often are the sessions?
At first they're usually weekly or fortnightly, to build momentum. As you progress, they're spaced out. The frequency always adapts to your moment and to what you're working on.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on each person and goal: some processes are brief and focused, others take longer. We review progress together and you decide at each point. There are never commitments.
How does therapy work? What approach do you use?
It works from an integrative approach: rather than applying one single technique to everyone, evidence-based models (CBT, ACT, EMDR, mindfulness, humanistic…) are combined according to what best fits you.
Will I notice progress? How is it measured?
Progress is reviewed continuously, with you. It's not about "feeling good" overnight, but about noticing sustainable changes in how you feel, think and relate.

Booking, appointments & hours

Is there a waiting list?
We don't work with waiting lists. We can usually arrange your first session within a few days.
What are your opening hours?
Sessions are by appointment, Monday to Friday. When booking we find the slot that suits you best within availability.
Can I change or cancel an appointment?
Yes. If you need to change or cancel, please let us know as early as possible so we can reorganise the schedule and offer that slot to someone else. (Please confirm the specific cancellation terms with the practice.)
Can I book by WhatsApp or phone?
Yes. You can message on WhatsApp, call 637 23 21 58 or use the online booking form.
Do you see people from outside Tres Cantos and Colmenar Viejo?
Yes. In-person care is in Tres Cantos and Colmenar Viejo, but with online therapy we can support people wherever they are.

Fees & payments

How much does a session cost?
Every person and process is different, so we prefer to explain the fees clearly and with no obligation when you get in touch. Write to us or book a first session and we'll give you all the details.
Do you offer session packs?
Ask us when booking and we'll tell you the options available for your case.
What payment methods do you accept?
We'll let you know the available payment methods when confirming your appointment.
Do you work with health insurers?
Write to us and we'll clarify how it works in your case. If you need an invoice or receipt for your sessions, just let us know.

Online therapy

Does online therapy work as well as in person?
Yes. Evidence shows online therapy achieves results equivalent to in-person therapy in most cases, with the same warmth and follow-up.
What are online sessions like?
They're by live video call, just like an in-person session but from wherever you are. You only need an internet connection, a device with a camera and a quiet, private space.
Do I need to install anything complicated?
No. When booking we'll tell you how to connect easily, with a link. No tech expertise required.
Can I mix in-person and online sessions?
Yes. You can alternate as suits you best at each point, keeping continuity in the process.

Confidentiality & data

Is everything I share confidential?
Completely. Everything you share is protected by professional confidentiality and data-protection law. It's a safe, private space.
What happens with my personal data?
It's handled in line with GDPR and only for the purpose of psychological care. You can read the detail in the privacy policy.
What if therapy is for a minor?
For minors we work with the consent of parents or guardians, always protecting the child's trust and space. The details are agreed at the start.
In couples therapy, is what I say shared with the other person?
The framework of couples therapy is explained at the beginning so it's clear how information is handled between you. The goal is always to protect the joint process.

Who we see & reasons for therapy

Who do you see?
Adults, couples, teenagers and children. You can see all the areas on the services page.
What can I come for?
Some of the most common: anxiety and stress, depression and low mood, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem, emotional dependence, relationship difficulties or life changes. If you don't see yours, write to us and we'll look at it.
What is EMDR?
EMDR is an evidence-based therapeutic approach, especially useful for processing difficult or traumatic experiences. You can read more on the services page.
Do you offer couples therapy?
Yes. You can see how it works on the services page.

Location, contact & emergencies

Where are you?
We see people in person in Tres Cantos and Colmenar Viejo (Madrid) and online by video call. When confirming your appointment we'll give you the exact address.
How do I contact you?
By phone 637 23 21 58, on WhatsApp, by email simionescuemiliana@gmail.com or from the contact page.
I'm in a crisis or at risk. What should I do?
If you're in an emergency or immediate risk, call 024 (Spain's suicidal-behaviour helpline) or 112. They're available 24 hours. Therapy is a form of support, but in an emergency these services are the right channel.
