Trauma & EMDR

Healing what hurt so it stops weighing on your present.

Some experiences get imprinted and keep hurting even after time has passed: an accident, a loss, abuse, childhood situations or events that overwhelmed you. Trauma isn't always remembered in words; sometimes it lives in the body, in automatic reactions or in how you relate to others.

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy recommended by the WHO for processing trauma.

Signs it can help you

  • Intrusive memories, nightmares or flashbacks
  • Intense reactions to reminders of what happened
  • A sense of alertness, freezing or disconnection
  • Difficulties with trust or in relationships
  • Negative beliefs about yourself you can't shift

How I work on this

With EMDR we help the brain reprocess memories that got «stuck», so they stop being triggered day to day. It's gradual, safe and respectful of your pace.

What the process includes

  • A preparation phase and stabilisation resources
  • Processing of memories with the EMDR protocol
  • Work on the beliefs associated with the trauma
  • Integration and a kinder view of yourself

Frequently asked questions

What is EMDR therapy and what is it for?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a recognised approach for treating the impact of difficult or traumatic experiences. Through bilateral stimulation, it helps the brain reprocess those memories so they no longer hurt the way they used to. It is a very valuable tool when the past keeps shaping the present.
Do I have to relive what happened to me?
It is not about reliving the trauma over and over, but about reprocessing it from a safe and accompanied place. We always work at your pace, making sure you feel in control throughout the process. The aim is to ease the weight of that memory, not to reopen the wound without protection.
What kinds of experiences can be worked on with EMDR?
It can help with specific events (an accident, a loss, an assault) as well as with experiences sustained over time that have left a mark. Something does not have to be objectively severe to deserve attention; what matters is how it affects you. We will assess together which approach suits you best.
How long does a trauma process with EMDR last?
The length depends on each person, the type of experience and how it is affecting you, so there is no fixed number of sessions. Before starting the reprocessing, we take time to prepare resources so that you feel safe. We will review progress together along the way.
How much does trauma and EMDR therapy cost?
Prices can be discussed with no obligation at all, so feel free to write or call us with complete peace of mind. We will inform you of the fees and how the process is planned for your situation. The priority is for you to receive careful support tailored to you.
