EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychological approach recommended by the World Health Organization for treating trauma.
The core idea
When we go through a very intense experience, sometimes the brain doesn't fully «process» it and it's stored dysfunctionally. That's why, even after time, it keeps getting triggered with the same emotional charge: like a wound that won't close.
How it works
Through bilateral stimulation (eye movements, for example) we help the brain resume its natural ability to process that memory, so it stops hurting and integrates as part of the past.
What it is NOT
It's not hypnosis and doesn't require reliving the trauma in detail. We always work from safety and with prior stabilisation resources.
EMDR is especially useful for trauma, grief, anxiety and adverse childhood experiences. If you think it could help, we can explore it in a first session.
